You may have played the new game, Career Quest, or... you may have not. Well, I'm here to give my two-cents on the new game. Not that my opinion matters.
How to Play:
You begin by joining a quest at the ACT career center. You will be given a description of a career and approximately 120 seconds to find out what the career is, and where it is in the room. There are six career clusters to choose from. The career only fits into one. You will be given "hot or cold" clues until you are in the correct room. In that room there will be several sub-categories of the cluster. When you choose the right one, it will say "correct area". From there you will see a list of careers. Find the correct one that matches the description and click on it. If you get it wrong, don't worry if you still have time you can try again. If you found the right career, you win and earn 3-6 clams depending on your speed. After that you can join another quest.
The Verdict:
2 out of 5 stars
**
In my opinion, this game isn't worth your time. With a payout of only a few clams? I say, play it to get your salary up, and then move on to a different game. However, I do think it is a good tool for kids and teens to learn more about careers that might interest them or even discover ones they've never heard of. If you want to do that, then don't join the quests so you can work at your own pace. Remember, 120 seconds is not enough time to make a major life decision, so don't jump to conclusions!

Well, I haven't been active on Whyville or posting on here. It's been a while. But I still somehow can't give it up. I have considered giving my blog to someone who'd like to actively post on it, but I'm attached (is that sad? lol). Anyway, I just had to come on Whyville in March to get my medals (four year veteran on jelloroks woot woot), and I thought, why not check up on my blog. Anyway, enough about me. Here's some new (ish) stuff that's been going on in Whyville.

Here's some new (ish) stuff that's been going on in Whyville.
- See when other whyvillians are typing in chat. A cute little purple pen shows up.
- Whyville's 14 years old!
- Whyville app coming soon? Tesract says they're working on it!
- The gallery in the times has been getting used more! Yay for a budding artist like me ;)
- Raven Island Treasure Hunt: I think it was two weeks ago this happened. I don't know if this was a one-time thing, or if it will happen again, but I hope it will! That weekend, little gifts popped up around Raven Island and you could have won projectiles, clams, pearls, and face factory vouchers.
- ACT Career Club/Career Quest
- AMD Game Zone: Wand Games. Play or create your own game for a chance to win awesome prizes like an x-box 360 with kinect, a lenovo laptop, or a wii u!
- Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Partners in the Wellness Clam Storm and creating new games to help kids and teens deal with stress.
- Bankinter: Due to extreme inflation in Whyville, you can only earn a maximum of 500,000 clams of interest in your savings. Psh. "Only". So if you have any more than 5 million clams in your savings, the rest won't get you any interest. Also, you can have up to five CD's open at once and each can only have 1 million clams in it.
- New "sent" box in y-mail. Been wanting this for a long time!
- "Did you mean _____?" in city records. Awesome for me because I make frequent typos :p
- Robot Checkers players, meaning you can play against a computer when you don't have any friends (like me)
- Reef runs on Flash and Java
- New colour palette in the Face Factory
- Trading post: Works with Flash or Java, old parts' dates are not reset, and designer's name is shown.
Phew! I think I got 'em all. I now see that the city workers have been very busy while I was gone. I hope to start posting again. I'm trying my best!

Whyville's Annual Halloween Party 2012
Originally posted on: Monday, October 8th, 2012
Yes, it is that time of year again and I know you're all excited for the festivities on and off of Whyville. Come to Hauntington Mansion for a night of games, contests, costumes, and lots and lots of spooky projectiles. Remember, you'll need the secret password to get in. Go to Dr. Leila's and type the password, which is usually a Halloween themed word spelled backwards. What is this password you say? Well, I don't know yet. But soon all the y-mail helpers will receive a y-mail about it, and we'll spread the word.
Also remember you have a chance o win your very own party room which you can choose the background for! You have 25 chances to win so make sure you log on every day and invite all your friends. (Also, don't be stupid like me and forget to send a picture in for it! Lol)
I'm hoping to see lots of cool and creative costumes this year! And maybe I might when have a little contest of my own if I have the time ;). MAYBE lol
When: Saturday, October 27th, 2012
Time: 2 PM to 6 PM whyville time
Where: Hauntington Gardens
Happy Halloween everyone and I hope to see you there. :)

Interested? Just ymail me your article at jelloroks, or email me at whyvilleinsider@gmail.com. Please make sure to edit and spell check your article before sending it. The AALAS Solitaire game has been updated, and I find it easier to use, faster to play, and more fun. Win up to 40 clams a game in a short amount of time.Confused on how to play? I'm here to help!
The object of the game is to learn more about diseases that affect us. A random card will be drawn at the start of the game. It will tell you the name of the disease and give you a little information about it. You must choose one orange "impact" card, one green "experiment" card, and one purple "vehicle" card. The cards must correspond with each other and the disease card.

The cards must correspond with each other and the disease card.
Click on the cards you think go along with the disease card. When you click on a card, it will turn yellow. If you click on two cards in the same category (impact, experiment, vehicle) the first card in that category you clicked on will turn to normal colour.
If you matched all three cards to the disease, they will get a purple check mark on them and move to the bottom.
If a card does not match at all, a purple "x" will appear over it and you will lose three clams for each incorrect card. For example, chickenpox does not cause cervical cancer in women.
If two-three cards do not match with each other, the cards will have a purple dash (-) appear over them. You will lose two clams for each pair of incorrect cards. For example, your vehicle can't be animals if your experiment is to make a model. The cards must correspond with each other. Computer: model, animal:animal, etc.
This game is fairly simple and my best tip I can give you is to use your context clues! (I know you aren't too thrilled to talk about English on your snow days!) If the experiment mentions animals, the vehicle must be animals. If the disease affects the muscles, than the impact should probably say something about muscles. Good luck. :D

Dreidel: Game Guide
Originally posted on: Friday, September 16th, 2011
Are all those Yiddish words confusing you? Is Chaim talking to fast for your pace? Or maybe you're just a beginner? Well, I have a great guide on how to play the dreidel game in Whyville. Fear no more!
This game is simple. It's all about luck and chance.
Begin by having at least two players in the room. At least two people need to play. To play say "ante" when a new game begins. If others in the room don't want to play, come back another time.
When you say "ante" you are in the game and five clams are automatically deducted from your account. These clams are then put in the "pot". The amount of clams in the pot at this time will depend on how many people play. For example, if three people play, 15 clams are in the pot.
When it's your turn, Chaim will advise you to "spin" the dreidel. To spin it, simply say "spin". The dreidel will spin and randomly land on a symbol. These are Hey, Nun, Shin, and Gimmel. Confused yet? I was at first also. Don't worry, Chaim will tell you what it lands on.
If the dreidel lands on:
Nun: Nothing happens.
Shin: The player is deducted five clams, and then those clams are placed in the pot.
Hey: The player gets half of the clams in the pot. If the number of clams is odd, half of that is rounded up. Example: 15 clams, half=8 clams
Gimmel: You win! You rake in all the dough in the pot, and the game is over. You can play over and over as long as you have the clams to do it.
When a player lands on Gimmel, the game is over. Hey, you win some you lose some. (No pun intended.) It's all random, there's nothing you can do to increase your chances of winning.
I hope this helped you learned how to play the dreidel game, enjoy it before it's gone!
Celebrate in Whyville!

More BBS Updates!

So at the beginning of November, whyville city worker, Tesract, announced some more updates to the forums which include:
Paginated search results- More accurate search results
Quotes from "city hall" now appear correctly
Spellcheck for username searches- This one's kind of obvious. Everyone will spell their friend's username wrong at least once! I don't know about you, but I find it hard to remember hawtgirl132532. :P
Adjusted post length minimum to 1 character- Remember when you had to put "too short to be useful" or a bunch of spaces after your posting? After we got the updates, those spaces didn't work, so you had to put characters or codes. Now you don't have to do that. Your post can be as short as one character.
Post speed limits (3 posts / 2 minutes)- This is a good one to prevent double/triple posting and spam
Extra wide posts now get a scroll bar instead of breaking formatting- No more page stretches! Now we have a convenient scroll bar.
I would like to thank the city workers for implementing these awesome updates and for listening to our suggestions. (Tesract and Keine, I'm talking to you. ;D)
I would also like to apologize for my lack of posting on this blog. I've been busy and just plain lazy. My bad. :P

The New (And Not Really Improved) Whyville Insider
Hello, world and all who inhabit it! Jelloroks here, you may remember I created a little blog I created a few years ago called Whyville Insider. You may remember all the the game tutorials, helpful hints, clam-earning tips, cool contests, and fun articles I regularly posted. Well, I'm here to tell you THAT'S ALL GONE! IT'S NEVER COMING BACK!
Now hold up, wipe away those tears. Let me explain.
As I got older and busier, I didn't update Whyville Insider as much as I should have. I forgot about it for a little while, and stopped logging into Whyville too. Then one day I decided I would check up on Whyville and my blog, see what was new. And to my horror, the blog Whyville Insider DOES NOT EXIST?! WHAT?! All the blood sweat and tears I poured into the blog, all gone in an instant!
So I did some research about why my blog had disappeared, why all traces of it were wiped off the internet machine, and came up with... nothing. But I didn't want to give it up, so I remade my blog. I have been able to salvage a few articles from the original Whyville Insider and will be posting them on this new one, along with brand new articles.
Whyville Insider will never die!
Et tu, Blogger?
